We finished for exeat on Friday 26th May with a Junior Music Showcase in the Maidment, which provided a performance opportunity for some of the talented members of the third and fourth form.

The concert began with an energetic performance by one of the percussion ensembles lead by Mark Landon in a lively rendition of Believer by Imagine Dragons and the theme to Mission Impossible, followed by various solo performances. There were examples of technical splendour from Sherene in Song Without Words by Mendelssohn and Jeremy in his virtuosic piece, Prism for marimba by Keiko Abe.

Expressive and lyrical lines successfully projected by Logan in his Chopin Prelude in B minor on the piano and Ranen in his Poulenc Clarinet sonata, movement II and Clara wowed the audience with her performance of Ophelia’s Song by Maconchy with her mature voice at such a young age.

Well done to all involved.

Maria McKenzie

Director of Music
