Following his stunning debut against Australia in the summer and a successful tour of India in November, Theo has been selected in the 15-man England squad for the upcoming ICC U19 Men's World Cup being held in South Africa in January.

The showpiece event brings together the best young cricketers in the world, with sixteen nations bidding to lift the trophy which India won in the West Indies in the last edition of the tournament in 2022. England have been drawn in Group B, alongside the hosts South Africa, Scotland, and the West Indies, with the 41-match tournament concluding in February.

Theo's selection was earned after a series of stellar performances in England colours. Representing the Young Lions in August, he blasted 150 from just 118 balls against Australia, swiftly followed by 111 from 76 balls against Ireland. He then took 4-36 against Australia on his full U19 debut, before smashing 54 from 27 balls against the same opposition four days later. On the tour of India last month, he top-scored with 111 from 105 balls as England defeated India B U19s in a thrilling run chase. He will now be jetting off to represent his country on the global stage in the New Year.

What makes his selection even more impressive is the fact that he is still only 17 and will be one of the youngest players at the event.

Cricket Professional at Shrewsbury School, Adam Shantry said: "Representing your country in a World Cup really is the stuff of dreams. The whole experience, from the moment he boards the plane will be something he will treasure for the rest of his life. Being recognised as one of the best 15 players in the country at his age is acknowledgment of the progression he has made, and we are immensely proud of him.”

Director of Cricket, Will Hughes added: “What a journey Theo is on!  He has worked his socks off and is now getting his rewards. Congratulations from all at Shrewsbury and best of luck in South Africa!”
