A Fifth Form pupil has been recognised for two awards at the Cricket Shropshire’s County Age Group awards evening following an impressive season on the cricket pitch.

Millie P (MSH, V) was awarded the Cricket Shropshire Girls’ Performance award and the Cricket Shropshire Girls’ Under 15 Batting award after a fantastic season representing the Cricket Shropshire Girls’ U15’s, 18’s and making her debut for Cricket Shropshire Women.

In the 2024 season, Millie scored over 1000 runs, which included four half centuries for Cricket Shropshire U15’s and her first 100 for Cricket Shropshire Under 18’s, which at 15 years old is an incredible achievement. She also captained the Shropshire Girls U15’s and has been commended for leading the team from the front and creating a good team environment.

Cricket Shropshire’s Coaching Manager Ed Ashlin said: “Millie shows superb commitment and dedication to both developing her own skills but also those of others. She goes above and beyond to create a team environment and puts real value on her and others representing Shropshire. She has been recognised further this Winter by being supported by the Warwickshire EPP Programme.”

Millie said: “Winning the Shropshire U15 Batter of the Year and Senior Performance Player of the Season awards is an incredible honour, and I’m really grateful for the support from my teammates and coaches. Next season, I can’t wait to keep improving, have fun on the pitch, and help the team do well.”

Head of Girls' Cricket at Shrewsbury School, Lara Jones, added: “It's great that Millie has been recognised by Cricket Shropshire for her hard work, and we are incredibly proud of what she has achieved."
