Shrewsbury U14 Netball Team crowned County Champions
On Monday 3rd October two squads of U14 netballers headed to the Shropshire County Championships to compete in the Trophy and Plate Competition.
Plate Competition:
Our U14 B’s had a great start in their Pool – winning 7-6 v Marches School, 3-2 v Church Stretton – this gained them a place in the Semi Final which they unfortunately lost v Oswestry School. The team consisted of Third Formers Saara W (EDH), Belle H (EDH), Mimi M (EDH), Georgia G (MSH), April H (MSH), Millie P (MSH), Freya H (G) and Bella C (M).
Trophy:
The U14 A’s had one of the strongest performances at a County Netball Tournament for Shrewsbury, winning all their games which included victories over Thomas Telford School, Shrewsbury High School, Wrekin College, Newport Girls High School and Ludlow School. This means that the squad have qualified to represent Shropshire at the Midlands Finals in the New Year – congratulations all!
The team consisted of: Daisy P (M), Freya C (G), Willa B (MSH), Emilia G (MSH), Manon H (G), Jemima N (G), Dora W (M) and Sisi W (EDH).
A fantastic afternoon of netball and successes considering this is not our main term for Netball.
Head of PE, Miss Davis, said: "I have been exceptionally impressed with the Third Form and their attitude this term. I am currently coaching the U14s for Hockey and Netball – their positive attitude, work ethic and camaraderie has been outstanding! Congratulations to all the girls who took part on Monday - a wonderful achievement!"
Details of the Midlands Finals will be published soon.
