Sixth Former Theo to add to his England Cricket Caps
Shrewsbury is celebrating one of its cricketing stars as Sixth Form pupil Theo has once again been selected to play for England U19s.
Theo W (O, UVI) made the headlines again as this week he has been named in the England U19 squad that will take on Sri Lanka in a one-day series in June and July, following on from his exploits in the U19 World Cup in South Africa.
Theo said: “It’s an absolute honour to be called up to my country again in the international stage. I'm looking forward to the top-notch facilities and coaches available.
“Sri Lanka will be a competitive and talented side, but I can’t wait to put my England shirt back on and showcase my skills.”
Theo’s school form has been exceptional, having struck 482 runs in 6 innings at an average of 96 (including two centuries), while his Warwickshire 2nd XI performances have been explosive. He smashed 52 from just 22 balls against a Somerset side featuring England Test bowler Jack Leach, before top scoring with 66 from only 32 balls in their win against Gloucestershire, alongside team mates Chris Woakes and Ed Barnard.
We wish Theo the best of luck in his upcoming matches.
