A successful summer for Salopian rowers
A number of Salopian rowers competed over the holiday, but particular mention goes to Robbie L (S, LVI) who was selected to represent Scotland at the Home Countries Regatta and to Tara L (M, UVI) who was selected to represent Great Britain at the Coupe de la Jeunesse held in Czechia.
Tara's crew won gold for Great Britain in the Women’s Eights event, setting a new world best time in the process.
There were several Old Salopians in action over the Summer and two produced standout performances deserving mention. Grace Richards (G, 2019-21) was a member of the Oxford Brookes University crew that won the Remenham Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta. She was then selected to represent Great Britain in the Coxless Four at the Under 23 World Championships where her crew took Gold.
Louis Nares (I, 2015-20), also racing for Oxford Brookes, did an historic double by winning both the Stewards Challenge Cup (4-) and Grand Challenge Cup (8+) at Henley. He was then also was selected to represent Great Britain at the Under 23 World Championships. Louis stroked the GB Eight to victory at the event.
