Following the Launch of the Shrewsbury School girls football programme last month, the U18 Girls football team had their first ever match on Wednesday 9th November.

For many of the girls this game against TCAT was their first ever experience of playing in a football match.

Despite only having one training session in the build up to the game, the girls produced an excellent performance creating many chances and came away with a 7-1 win. Jen O’B (MSH, LVI) scored the first ever 1st XI girls goal and a first half Hattrick. Ruby W (M, LVI) also scored a brace after some great build up play from the team.

This dominant performance was really promising for the upcoming girls football season in the Lent term. The 1st XI girls next game will be against Thomas Telford before taking on Repton in the first round of the ISFA cup.

The first ever Girls 1st XI team in Shrewsbury schools history consisted of:

Imogen D, Jemima D, Sapna C, Daisy H, Ruby W, Esther H, Grace H, Rosie M, Jen O, Bella B, Libby H, Alannah D, Kitty R, Liv M
