Athletes to represent county at English Schools' Championships

Three athletes have been selected to represent Shropshire at the English Schools' Championships following the Mason Trophy. 

Last weekend nine Salopian athletes were picked to compete at the Mason Trophy in Stoke-on-Trent following impressive performances at earlier competitions.  

Congratulations to Jack K (PH, V), Harry P-M (I, V) and Iris D (G, UVI) who have been selected to represent Shropshire at the English Schools Championships next weekend in Birmingham. This is a major event at the Alexander Stadium, where they will compete against other athletes who have achieved the qualifying standard for their county. 

There were some impressive results from the Mason Trophy; Will B (PH, III) threw a PB in the Javelin, Zac W (Rb, IV) also ran a PB in the 3000m, whilst Jack K (PH, V) won the Gold Medal in the 800m with a ESAA qualifying time.  Other athletes competing included Dele S (Ch, IV) in Long Jump), Daniel O (Rt, V) in Long Jump, Ella O (G, IV) in Shot Putt and Harry P-M (I, V) in 800m. 

Elsewhere Will S (R, UVI) and Iris D also competed in the English Athletics U20/U23 champs in Chelmsford, Essex, with Iris finishing 3rd in the 800m in a time of 2:06.46, and Will finishing 8th in the 1500m in 3:54.99.
