We are delighted to announce that Miss Lara Jones has been confirmed as the new Head of Girls' Cricket at Shrewsbury School.

Lara has a wealth of experience as both a player and coach and will join the staff at Shrewsbury in November.

A top-order left-handed batter with Warwickshire CCC, she currently captains both the Shropshire Women's team and Alberbury Men's 1st XI in the Shropshire League. She has extensive experience of the women's game, having progressed through the junior pathway herself, representing sides from Shropshire, Warwickshire and Loughborough Lightning RDC as a youngster.

Her coaching CV includes spells with both the Warwickshire and Shropshire Cricket Boards, as well as being the  Head Coach of Alberbury CC. She is also enrolled on the ECB's Coach Developer course.

We are tremendously excited by her appointment, and are looking forward to her arrival.

Lara said: "Shrewsbury School has a reputation as one of the leading schools for girls' cricket in the country, and I am thrilled to be joining at such an exciting time for the women's game. I can't wait to meet the players and begin our training for next season together, and with a tour to Cape Town on the horizon we are well placed to start the season positively.

“I look forward to contributing to each player's development and achieving our collective goals on and off the field."
